Where the AI Agent market stands

2025–2026 marks the shift from AI answering questions to AI doing work: self-planning, using tools, running to completion. The difference is what you delegate. With a chatbot, you give a question and get text back. With an agent, you give an outcome — a report sent, data entered, a website deployed — and it works through multiple steps to get there.
