1. Soha Travel and the service philosophy of never saying no

Soha Travel is a subsidiary of the group known as the King of Fruit Export in Vietnam, VINA T&T. With the motto “Millions of joys, thousands of journeys,” the company wants to deliver truly comfortable and joyful travel experiences for individuals and organizations, creating meaningful moments that remain with every participant. The company has organized many tours for large companies and corporations.

Ms. Thảo, Deputy General Director of Soha Travel, shared Soha’s service philosophy: because Soha is a travel company that entered the market after many other travel companies, it has a special competitive advantage: always being genuinely dedicated to customers with reasonable cost figures, wholeheartedly building highly personalized tour ideas for each customer, and always being ready to say “Yes.” The customer is king — care for customers with a sincere heart, because travel with Soha is not merely an experience; it is the deeply memorable moments customers recall whenever they mention that destination. 2. When ambitious goals face cold reality

However, after the pandemic, the travel situation changed significantly. Operating the company so that it could achieve targets and remain stable became very difficult and stressful. The team often fell into deadlocks and could not understand the leader’s intentions. As Soha members shared with Simplamo, Soha had too many problems to solve. Business inefficiencies exposed countless weaknesses in internal management, becoming so complicated that it was very easy for both leadership and employees to lose control. What they needed most at that time was a common language for work communication, saving time and avoiding the “one talks about chickens, the other talks about ducks” situation. No one can achieve goals alone, because a company is not a solo business.

Specific problems Soha was facing in operating the company:

  • Each member’s roles and responsibilities were not clear, and the team had difficulty coordinating work and resolving issues that arose.
  • For annual plan execution and quarterly goals, leaders only received reports at the end of the month from department heads. There was too much data to evaluate, no focus on essential metrics, and proposed solutions were not yet aligned with the company’s actual situation.
  • Employees forgot their tasks and quarterly goals. There was no software to help leaders easily break down goals and help the team closely follow their own goals.
  • Too much meeting time was spent solving problems, but it was difficult to identify the person specifically responsible and track the actions to resolve those problems.
  • There was no software simple and focused enough for leaders to promptly monitor departmental operations and goal execution progress.

3. Soha Travel manages strategy on Simplamo – one arrow hits many targets

On March 22, 2023, Soha Travel – a subsidiary of the group known as the King of Fruit Export in Vietnam, VINA T&T – officially kicked off the project to operate the business on Simplamo software.

The first implementation session began with the Accountability Chart. At first, everyone was still quite unclear about how to clarify members’ roles and write them as affirmative statements under five roles, but with guidance from expert Nguyễn Thị Nghĩa, people gradually understood how to define the five core roles most closely aligned with their positions. Role descriptions had to be specific, using descriptive wording.

Next was building the 2023 annual plan for the whole company and for each specific department, from Sales–Marketing and Accounting to the leadership team. A panoramic picture was summarized into only seven goals. All were discussed under expert guidance and had to be focused, core, and measurable. Because only after clear goals are set can they be broken down into concrete and highly feasible actions. Once 2023 is absorbed, 2024 becomes clear, and then 2025.

Simplamo experts and Soha Travel set quarterly goals. The goals were summarized into only seven core company-wide goals. All members discussed them together; each department and member had clear, specific goals following the S.M.A.R.T. method. Especially for Marketing, Sales, HR, and Accounting, the core goals were kept under seven, written as affirmative and measurable statements, reducing the habit of half-finished work. Everyone knew one another’s work and clearly understood their own. Everything was done on Simplamo.

Measuring KPI metrics weekly on the Scorecard: under expert guidance, the Soha Travel team discussed and calculated weekly measurement figures that closely followed quarterly goals while still keeping breathing room for flexibility amid market fluctuations. Leaders could know who was overloaded and help in time; now it is easier because they only need to open the data board to immediately see the issue and discuss directly with the PIC responsible for that work. From there, the team could build tour promotion programs, maintain loyal customers, and identify weaknesses to improve with new approaches to today’s travel trends, using concrete data and measured performance to easily observe the overall effectiveness of all personnel. Everything was specific and easy to understand, helping the team simplify and quickly start executing.
